Wednesday’s close below the 10-day MA signaled that stocks had entered a Daily Cycle decline.
But Thursday’s price behavior introduced another possibility.
The S&P found support at its rising 50-day MA and rebounded, raising the question of whether the recent decline will continue toward a Daily Cycle Low—or prove to be a temporary interruption of the existing Daily Cycle advance.

The distinction is important.
Although Wednesday’s close below the 10-day MA signaled a Daily Cycle decline, the 10-day MA has not turned lower.
That leaves open the possibility that stocks could resume their Daily uptrend without completing a new DCL.
Friday is the earliest a Daily swing low could form. If that occurs, bullish follow-through and a close back above the 10-day MA would produce a Cycle Band buy signal, favoring continuation of the existing Daily Cycle.
However, the recovery faces two important tests.
Rejection at the 10-day MA would leave the Daily Cycle decline in force. Even if stocks reclaim that moving average, resistance near 7800 could challenge the developing recovery.
There is also an encouraging development beneath the surface. The NYSE Composite has already confirmed its early-October DCL and is advancing out of that low, with its Daily TSI trending higher.

The Takeaway
Cycle studies provide a framework of expectations. Price behavior tells us whether those expectations are being reinforced or challenged—and when it’s time to adjust.
Wednesday’s decline signal raised the possibility of a developing DCL. Thursday’s support at the 50-day MA introduced a credible continuation scenario.
Friday’s price behavior will help determine which interpretation gains strength.
