Pre-Summary
Bonds have moved into an interesting alignment. TLT is testing an important area of long-term support just as its daily cycle has entered the timing band for a DCL.
Neither tells us that the low is in. But together, they tell us where to pay attention.

The long-term chart provides the first piece of the picture. TLT has returned to the 80–81 area, a zone that has provided important support several times over the past few years. With bonds once again testing this area, the long-term structure gives us a reason to pay attention.

The Daily chart adds the second piece. Bonds printed their lowest point on Monday, day 18, placing them in the early part of their timing band for a DCL. A break above 81.36 forms a swing low. A close above the 10-day MA will have us label day 18 as the DCL. That creates an interesting alignment: cycle timing is arriving as price tests long-term support.
There is also a timely backdrop to the setup. Long-term Treasury yields have been under renewed pressure, with the 10-year yield reaching 5% on Monday for the first time since 2023. At the same time, the U.S. Treasury recently increased the size of its long-end liquidity-support buybacks, and last week increased one operation to as much as $6 billion. Treasury describes the program as providing liquidity support in longer-dated securities.
For readers interested in that broader backdrop, Reuters has a useful discussion of the recent buyback and the pressures facing the long end of the Treasury market.

None of this means that bonds have bottomed. Long-term support tells us where a low could develop. Cycle timing tells us when to begin looking. Price still needs to provide the evidence.
